First Shiloh Baptist Church History (Summary)

The idea of First Shiloh began early in the 19th century.  The plot of land on which the church now stands was given to slaves of the community by Zemula Walker, to be used as a place of worship.  In June 1835 the slaves were permitted to organize themselves as an Association of Worshippers.  In 1855 the tract of land was sold to Walter Towner.  Towner was instructed to let the slaves continue using the church plot as a place of worship free from any charges.  In 1863 Bristow Buggs a trusted slave of Towner, was in possession of the tract of land until his owner returned to this country.

Welcome to our home: We could not have made it for more than 187 years without Christ.  Our members thank you for visiting with us. We encourage you to join us for worship whenever you find our doors open. See the FSBC Calendar for upcoming events.

In response to all that is happening in our world.  I offer this:

Standfast and seek God's word.

COVID-19: A Prayer For Our World
God, You alone are worthy of honor, glory, and praise. With You, we can overcome every storm—including the global impact COVID-19 is having on our world. Right now, we are asking You to:

  • Heal those who are sick and protect those who are not.
  • Give our leaders extra wisdom as they navigate this pandemic and economic uncertainty.
  • Strengthen Your global Church. Reveal to us how we can partner together to reach the needs of those around us.
  • Calm our fears. Fill us with Your hope, joy, and peace as we continue to trust in You.
  • Use this pandemic to pave the way for spiritual renewal. We want Your glory, power, and healing to be on display.

Come, Lord Jesus, come.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
